Creative Students Awards 2016

By | 17th June 2016

In support of the Prevent Tragedies campaign, national Counter Terrorism Policing has partnered with YCN (You Can Now), a creative network that aims to create a platform for fresh, new creative talent across the UK.

The Challenge

Safeguarding the UK from terrorists and terrorism emanating from the Syria conflict is a priority for national counter terrorism policing and other partners. Over recent years, there has been an increasing number of people travelling to Syria including women and girls. Finding ways to reach this group with messaging that will dissuade them from travelling was the overall challenge for the Creative Students Awards.

The Brief

Students from across the country were invited to choose between two briefs which focused on issues relating to deterring young women from travelling to Syria and encouraging mothers to have conversations with their children about the issues in Syria. In response to the briefs, 36 students from 5 universities submitted creative concepts which were considered by a judging panel.
